Author and Film-maker

My name is James Avonleigh and welcome to my website.

I was born in the UK, but grew up in continental Europe. After taking a degree in Oriental Studies, I lived and worked in Asia for a number of years as a photographer, graphic designer and film-editor.

I am drawn to the shadows and the margins of life.

‘Reiko: A Japanese Ghost Story’ was my first novel, and drew on experiences living in Japan.

A second Japan-based supernatural story titled ‘Demon Hunters in Japan’ was released in 2023. I am currently working on a supernatural thriller set in a Burgundy vineyard titled ‘Blood Vintage’.
